The fast moving world of commodities trading require equally responsive workspace solutions. Our second project for Van Der Moolen involved the setting up of a 50 person trading room to be completed eight weeks from our appointment. The project was initiated by the acquisition of a Bonds trading team. The space had been identified and the team assembled so the clock was ticking. A seemingly simple refurbishment and relocation project became more complex when we discovered that the previous works to the office had been completed without the necessary statutory consents. The space needed cooling and ventilating and had to meet the strict noise emission standards of a workspace abutting a residential building. Our solution involved creating a soundproof internal plant room that discretly fitted into the clean modern workspace. By obtaining a clear brief from Van Der Moolen and working within the framework of planning and building regulations we were able to create an innovative dealing room environment that complied with the statutory regulations and avoided a potentially protracted planning application. built area: 6450 sqft
